The Irish word drumlin is used by geologists to mean “little ridge” or mound formed through glacial movement. Our site is home to this undulation that paved the way for a design concept of varied mounds of earth at obtuse angles, creating open and expansive spaces between them. At this intersection we conceived two habitable volumes angled away from each other creating an in-between entry space that opens to the yard. This strategic siting also allowed for dramatic views as well as a changing landscape based on one’s orientation.
