Little Sippewisset: Falmouth, MA
This site nestled in the woods, adjacent to Sippewissett Marsh and a stone throw from the Barrier Dunes at Wood Neck Beach remains tied to the Buzzards Bay. The ever-present ocean air is a constant reminder that even without direct water views, it’s never far away.
The design for this house borrows from the undulation of water and land that form along Falmouth’s seaside edge. A subtle reminder of deposited sands and rocks from a receding ice age. This undulation forms pools of water that meander intermittently between sections of land. We conceived this house as a metaphor to the marshes with two masses separated to create a void in which people circulate between.
