Adjacent to idyllic Squam Lake, the house design is rooted in the earth not water.  An exploration into the methods and results of local granite excavation led to the idea of a house of chiseled planes and fractures. One that is solid from the initial approach and entry and is carved away at the back to open itself up to the lake. One that shifts its massing to create spaces for cover or inhabitance.
